Commercial Interior Design

May 30, 2024

Dubai’s interior design industry came out for the latest CID Power Panels this week, in partnership with Baituti Home, which was held at Celeste in SO/ Uptown on Wednesday, May 29.

“CID Power Panels: Partners in design”

The event took place on Wednesday, May 29 and attendees were treated to two incisive panel discussions, interspersed with networking opportunities, food, wine, cocktails, and other refreshments.

The panel discussions were led by the CID Group Editor Paul Clifford, and they revolved around two pivotal themes: fashion’s place in interior design, and the evolution of luxury.

The first panel, Fashion’s Influence on Interior Design, featured industry trailblazers Marco Maximus, Senior Interior Designer at Keane, Farah Istieteih, Associate Design Lead at XBD Collective, Mohammed Aqra, Co-founder of the Arab Fashion Council and Ilio Allas, Head of Design and Special Projects at Baituti Home.

The experts discussed the rising number of fashion brands associating themselves with hotels and residences, and where the collaboration starts and ends between the two parties.

There was also a debate over the need to give emerging designers the chance to put their stamp on design projects over established names.

Maximus added that as long as consumers wanted to be associated with fashion brands, the trend wasn’t going to go anywhere, though Ishtieteih and Allas both sounded the warning about how much influence the fashion brand should have on design choices, and how sparingly (or otherwise) they are used in a space.
